We've derived our months from yesterdays
Our tears from yesterlives
We've lived and fell from our foundations
And endured our toxic fumes
We've let ourselves be heroes
Be villains, be enemies
We've forgotten to remember
Yet remembered to forget
We've forged connections between hearts
And we've watched them rust and wear
We've begged for crucifixion
And complained when we received it
We've been threatened by the world
And by ourselves
Yet we've continued to trudge the deserts of time
Despite our faults
Our failures
Our flaws
And we've learned a hell of a lot more from those
Than we have from our successes
And so we'll live
And breathe
And care
And lie
And fight
And break eachother's hearts
Till there's nothing else to break
And we'll forgive
And forget
And wish it was that easy
But we'll live
To break another day in half
And share in it's joys and tears
Cause, my friends,
It's all or nothing

Author's Comments

Yes, I managed to be confusing, hypocritical, cynical, and make up words and curse all in one poem.

I'm a regular Bukowski (except I have friends)

I think we'll all be okay.
Especially you.

"...but I believe errors, especially written errors, are often the only markers left by a solitary life: to sacrifice them is to lose the angles of personality, the riddle of a soul."

This sort of reminds me of Innuendo. Or at least the line: "Yet we've continued to trudge the deserts of time"

So it goes.

"That's what writers do. We cut ourselves open and we bleed all over the page."
:iconwillschenck:
Tragically beautiful. Should I be concerned that I understand it? (:

I have a tendency to wear my mind on my sleeve.
